The Democratic Party has a proud history in Northeastern Nevada with more than 4,000 Democrats currently registered in Elko County. While we have a long way to go to win back the majority, we have seen many new faces at party functions and our monthly meeting. We hope you will join us at 5:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month at the Red Lion. Those attending may purchase dinner from a limited menu for a nominal fee. Bring your ideas and questions. All are welcome.

Some of our Republican friends have gotten used to thinking that elective offices are theirs for the taking after years of unopposed races. This year, longtime Elko resident and outdoor enthusiast, Mike McFarlane, with more than 30 years in our local mining industry and mining education, has decided to make the race for Assembly District 33 a real contest. Mike brings a history of citizen involvement to the race and an understanding of the people of Northeast Nevada, their rural values, and the issues that are important to all of us.
